Futoshi Tsuneyama
General Manager, E&P Dept. Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd
Currently, Futoshi Tsuneyama is serving as the General Manager of the E&P Department at Idemitsu Kosan, where he is responsible for the upstream business of oil & gas, as well as geothermal energy and energy transition initiatives such as CCS/CCUS. He assumed this role in 2022 after returning from Norway, where he has served as the Managing Director of Idemitsu Petroleum Norge for two years.
Futoshi Tsuneyama began his career as an exploration geologist with Idemitsu Kosan in 1989. He then expanded his expertise in geophysics through training, research, and successful application to existing projects. His work primarily focused on determining hydrocarbon distribution by quantitatively analyzing seismic data based on rock physics theories. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, he worked at the Technology Research Center of Japan National Oil Corporation from 1999 to 2002. Additionally, he served as the Deputy General Manager of the Gas Business Development Department at Idemitsu Kosan from 2013 to 2015.
Futoshi Tsuneyama holds a Master of Science degree from Niigata University and a Ph.D. in Geophysics from Stanford University.
