Jérôme Malka
Member of the Executive Committee ENGIE Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS)
Jérôme Malka started as an oil trader in 1991 at French bank Société Générale in Paris and in London. He worked as an energy trader at Société Générale for 21 years. In 2000, he participated in the creation of electronic trading platform Intercontinental Exchange (ICE). In 2002, he became Head of Energy Trading at Société Générale. Upon the emergence of new markets for CO2 credits, he formed ORBEO in 2006, a JV between Société Générale and chemical company Rhodia. From 2006 to 2011, he served as Managing Director of ORBEO, achieving multiple recognition awards as best emission trading company. During that period, he also served as Board Member of the European Carbon Fund (ECF). In 2012, he joined chemical company Solvay as Head of Energy & CO₂ Markets. In 2014, he moved to Houston and became Executive Vice President of Solvay Energy Services North America and Managing Director of Solvay Biomass Energy, a company developing biomass-based products. He joined Engie in March 2019 in Paris. As Vice President, Member of the Executive Committee of the Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) business unit, he supervises activities in Asia/Pacific, Australia/New-Zealand Global LNG, Global Biomass, Green Power, Clients relationships, and Commercial expertise. Jérôme graduated in 1991 as an Electrical Engineer.
